On June 2, 2026, HRH Grand Duke Guillaume visited Kalbermillen in the Our Valley at the invitation of the Fondation Hëllef fir d'Natur.
The focus was on the one-of-a-kind breeding station dedicated to the freshwater pearl mussel, one of Europe's most endangered animal species, which in Luxembourg is now found only in the Our. This visit also provided an opportunity to discover the work of the Water Experience Center (WEZ) and the long-term nature conservation projects carried out in the "Ourdall" Natura 2000 site.
During a walk through the valley, the Grand Duke was able to witness firsthand the restoration measures, protected habitats, and the foundation's commitment to biodiversity protection.
This visit highlights the importance of nature conservation in Luxembourg and serves as valuable recognition of the work done by the staff dedicated to our natural environment every day.
