The return of the otter

The return of the otter to the Our valley: hope for biodiversity

The Our Valley, a natural gem in the east of Luxembourg, is home to a winding river with clear waters, ideal for wildlife. Once present, the European otter (Lutra lutra) disappeared due to pollution, habitat loss and hunting. Today, thanks to ecological restoration efforts, the river once again offers a suitable habitat: natural banks, dense vegetation, wetlands and much-improved water quality. As an ecological corridor linking neighbouring regions, the valley could soon welcome back this discreet ambassador of wild rivers. The return of the otter would be a powerful symbol of the success of our conservation actions and the resilience of our ecosystems. We are therefore committed to improving its habitat to increase the likelihood of its return. Support us in this project!
