Orchard fruit tree

National Tree Day

Let's plant high-stem orchards as biodiversity reservoirs and to safeguard old fruit varieties.

Once highly prominent in the landscape, traditional orchards tend to disappear. Yet they are a precious reservoir of biodiversity. Not only because of the various fruit varieties they comprise, but also because they are part of an ecosystem that harbors an important, diversified, and rare wildlife such as the little owl, the Eurasian wryneck, or various bat species.
