Covering one-third of Luxembourg’s territory, the forest ecosystem provides numerous benefits, such as soil and water protection, air purification, a positive impact on the local climate, and timber production. As a place for recreation and relaxation, its social importance is growing. In particular, forests play a vital role in combating global warming by sequestering CO2 and releasing oxygen.
The Foundation is committed to the sustainable management of its owned forested land, with the goals of creating and restoring resilient, biodiversity-rich forests and replacing spruce monoculture plots devastated by bark beetles with mixed deciduous forests.
