Project with Banque de Luxembourg
Banque de Luxembourg supports us in preserving biodiversity, local freshwater reserves, and the freshwater mussel breeding station. Freshwater mussels play an umbrella role: they feed by filtering water, thereby restoring water clarity over a short distance; undigested particles settle on the bottom, serving as food for various aquatic insects and crustaceans; the anchoring of the mussels and the movement of young mussels constantly rework the gravelly bed, creating a favorable environment for fish to spawn under optimal conditions, which in turn attracts natural predators, and so on.
